The 10th Conference of the European Family Therapy Association: Visible and Invisible: Bordering Change in Systemic Family Therapy (EFTA2019) will take place in Naples, Italy 11 to 14 September 2019, jointly organized by EFTA (European Family Therapy Association) and SIPPR (Italian Society of Psychology and Relational Psychotherapy).

EFTA2019 is around a breadth of up-to-the-minute scientific themes. The title of the 2019 conference is “Visible and Invisible: Bordering Change in Systemic Family Therapy”, and refers to the borders of change as the main thematic concept for the conference: change in relationships, change of tools, practices and procedures, change of requests, change of context. Psychologists, clinical psychologists and therapists all over the world will find an excellent forum to exchange ideas, share knowledge and discuss the most recent advances in systemic family therapy.

As mentioned in the conference concept: “We have taken the concept of borders of change as our main thematic concept for the conference. As therapists, clinicians and researchers witnessing all the social changes of the last century and of the beginning of the new millennium, what is now the core of our work, which are the borders of change in psychotherapy? Can we still think of psychotherapy as the science of narratives and conversation or are there other tools and other borders we have to achieve? Other ways to introduce change should be produced and experimented? Do we have words for the changes we already are producing? The contribution of writers and artists could help us clarify even better the functioning of our interventions, those often born intuitions only partially explained by our usual theories and past procedures. Could wise men as writers give us some new reading keys? […] In this conference we would like to enhance the vital aspects of our work, its artistic and creative feature, since relational and systemic grids are a guarantee of a generative and ethical stance. We will present the outcomes of our purposeful, serious, clinic-based researches.”

Distinguished invited keynote lecturers will present recent and ongoing developments, addressing unresolved issues and projecting ideas for the future. University plenary sessions, symposia, workshops, individual presentations, open format sessions numerous parallel events will also be carefully organized on ed topics of societal interest, to broaden the horizons of the systemic family therapy community and to reinforce international cooperation links. The EFTA2019 conference is a highly-anticipated event, held every three years, and is considered to be the leading activity of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA), as well as the baseline and meeting point for the scientific and professional sector at an international level, with more than 1000 delegates Europe and worldwide.
